Neymar’s family takes over Pelé’s brand in $18-million deal

The global brand of Brazilian football icon Pelé has been acquired by the family of another of the country’s biggest stars, Neymar Jr, following a purchase by NR Sports, the company owned by Neymar Santos Sr.   Neymar Sr announced the acquisition on Tuesday, November 25 at the Pelé Museum in Santos, the coastal city that became synonymous with the late football legend’s career.   “We are proud to reach this milestone,” he said, noting that Pelé’s name remains “a very strong brand” with immense global value. “We want to enhance its identity and bring it into the present.”   Although confidentiality agreements prevented disclosure of the full terms, Brazilian media reported that the deal was worth around USD 18 million. A self-proclaimed traditional healer has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after a Rusape court in Zimbabwe, found him guilty of attempting to r@pe a woman during what he claimed was a ritual to cleanse her home of goblins. The case revealed how the man manipulated the woman’s desperation to resolve marital problems.   According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the incident happened on October 3, 2025, when 29-year-old Cain Mushayi approached the 34-year-old woman at her homestead in Village Domborembizi. He presented himself as a traditional healer capable of removing goblins he claimed were causing instability in her home. Trusting him, the woman allowed him into her unfinished two-roomed house for the so-called cleansing ritual.   Once inside, the situation took a disturbing turn. Naira strengthens to N1,441/$1 as CBN holds MPR at 27%

The Naira posted modest gains across the foreign exchange market on Tuesday, appreciating to N1,441/$1 following the conclusion of the 303rd Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). This marks an improvement from N1,452/$1 recorded on Monday, according to updated figures on the CBN’s website.   The appreciation comes as the CBN sustained its aggressive monetary tightening aimed at stabilizing the FX market and curbing persistent inflationary pressures. During the two-day meeting held in Abuja, MPC members voted to maintain all key policy indicators, reinforcing the apex bank’s commitment to restoring macroeconomic stability. At the meeting, the CBN retained the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) at 27 percent, keeping it at its highest level in recent history. Nigerian police arrest and repatriate Turkish fugitive convicted of fraud

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested and repatriated a 61-year-old Turkish national, Acar Huseyin, who fled his country after being convicted of fraud earlier this year. Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin announced on Tuesday that Huseyin had been convicted by the Istanbul Anadolu High Criminal Court and subsequently sentenced to 14 years, eight months and 10 days in prison. He fled Turkey shortly after the judgment in an attempt to evade serving the sentence.   Hundeyin said the fugitive travelled through the Middle East before entering Nigeria. “In July 2025, INTERPOL NCB Ankara published a Red Notice, requesting member countries to locate and arrest the fugitive. A Thai court has issued an arrest warrant for Anne Jakapong Jakrajutatip, the media mogul co-owner of the Miss Universe beauty pageant, over alleged fraud amounting to $930,000. The warrant follows a streak of scandal that has hit the contest, including a host's tantrum and allegations of sexism during the most recent event.   The fresh outrage against Anne Jakapong Jakrajutatip, whose JKN Global Group co-owns the contest, came just after Miss Mexico was crowned winner last week. The South Bangkok Civil Court issued the warrant on Tuesday after a plastic surgeon accused her of fraud and concealing information when persuading him to invest in JKN in 2023. Court remands man for alleged s3xual assault on 3-year-old pupil in Lagos

A chief magistrate’s court in Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday, remanded a 37-year-old man, Joseph Olasope, in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly inserting his finger into the private part of a three-year-old girl.   Mr Olasope, who resides at No. 35, Oladimeji St., Aguda, Surulere, faces one count of s3xual assault   The chief magistrate, M. F. Onamusi, did not take the defendant’s plea and ordered that he be remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.   Mr Onamusi adjourned the case until 10 December for advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.   Earlier, the prosecutor, Adegoke Ademigbuji, an assistant superintendent of police, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on 8 October at a school located at No. 3, Kareem Olanrewaju St., Badagry, Lagos.   Mr Ademigbuji said the defendant had visited the school when the incident occurred.   The prosecutor said the defendant was allegedly caught inserting his finger into the private...

So much more in love, so much room to grow,” he wrote.   Banky W also revealed that someone once predicted their marriage wouldn’t last, saying, “I give them 6 months” — but according to him, “little did they know… the bond is unbreakable when the cord is 3-fold.”   He ended the tribute by calling Adesua his “wife, baby mama, lover,” adding that their union, established in 2017, has “eternity” as the finish line.    

Bandits abduct women in Kano

Bandits have abducted at least eight persons in Biresawa village of Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State. DailyTrust reports that the assailants stormed the village between 11pm and 12 midnight, on Monday,November 24.     “They came as usual, and from our findings so far, two males and six females were taken away by the bandits. Actress Peggy Ovire has finally answered the N100 million demand letter actor Taiye Arimoro sent through his lawyers — and she isn’t accepting any part of his story.   A fesponse issued by Peggy’s legal team, said Taiye’s claims were “misleading, selective and materially false,” insisting the actor is twisting the entire incident.   According to the letter, the issue started when Taiye was asked to return to set, but instead allegedly got into a heated confrontation. The response states that he assaulted the Production Manager, Luke Obayi, before allegedly head-butting Peggy’s driver, Joshua Madu, leaving him bleeding from the ear and nose. An unemployed son impersonated his de@d mother to collect thousands of euros a year from her pension in what Italian authorities have dubbed a “Mrs. Doubtfire scandal,” according to local reports.    The 56-year-old man, who was not identified, carried out the scam after his mom d!ed three years ago as he concealed her mummified corpse at their family home, Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reported. The con artist’s mother, Graziella Dall’Oglio, passed away at 82 years old and her son never reported her de@th. He instead stuffed her corpse in a sleeping bag and stashed it in the laundry room at their home, the outlet reported.     By the time authorities found Dall’Oglio, her body had mummified, according to the reports.   All the while, her son meticulously impersonated each detail of his mother down to her makeup and continued to cash her pension. Cardi B casts her umbilical cord in a gold pendant following birth of her 4th child

Cardi B decided to commemorate the birth of her fourth child by casting a piece of her umbilical cord into gold chrome.   The rapper, 33, who recently had her son, her first baby with boyfriend Stefon Diggs, enlisted a company that specialises in such to create the special memento.   According to the company's website, the keepsake is the baby's “umbilical cord dehydrated in the shape of a heart and then dipped in gold chrome.”     Purchasing the stylized and preserved cord is $50, but the company also offers a $500 Placenta Encapsulation Service, which converts a woman's placenta into pills.    In a video shared by the company, someone can be seen forming Cardi's keepsake. Another video shows that Cardi also opted for a placenta print, which is another service the company offers.

Organ trafficking: UK rejects FG’s request for Ike Ekweremadu to complete prison term in Nigeria

The UK government has rejected a request by the Nigerian government to deport former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who was convicted of organ trafficking,  TheGuardian  UK reports on Monday.    Recall that a high-level delegation sent by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with officials at the UK Ministry of Justice (MoJ) on November 10, 2025 to discuss Ekweremadu's case.    Ekweremadu, 63, is serving a sentence of nine years and eight months after being found guilty in 2023 of conspiring to exploit a man for his kidney.   Ekweremadu, his wife, Beatrice, and a co-conspirator, Dr Obinna Obeta, trafficked a young man to London with a view to harvesting his kidney, which they planned to transplant to Ekweremadu’s daughter Sonia in a private unit of an NHS hospital.   It was the first conviction for organ trafficking under the Modern Slavery Act.   According to The Guardian, the Nigerian government delegation, led by the foreign m...
