The former National Secretary of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh has been found guilty of money laundering which is the first of the seven counts instituted against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Justice Okon Abang who ruled on the case on Tuesday February 25, said Metuh could not prove that the N400m transferred to his account and that of his firm Destra Investments Limited, was approved by former President Goodluck Jonathan for the 2015 general elections.
The Federal High Court Judge stated that the former PDP Spokesperson should have known that the sum of N400 million former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki transferred to his account and that of his firm are proceeds of an unlawful activity because they had no form of a contractual relationship with the ONSA.
Abang also struck out the defence team's argument of their client not being up for conviction since Dasuki who transferred the money is still undergoing trial.
