The decomposing body of a  woman was found at a refuse site along Aggrey road, Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital. According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the woman went missing last Sunday.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain   has signed a new long-term contract until 2023 with European champions,   Liverpool. Kodak Black  has pleaded guilty to federal weapons charges. The controversial American rapper whose real name is  Bill K. Kapri, 22,   entered the plea at a hearing in Miami federal court on Thursday, August 22. He originally had pleaded not guilty on the firearm charges. Back in May, Kodak was charged with crimes including making false statements on federal forms to purchase three firearms. Prosecutors say a weapon purchased by Black was found at the scene of the Pompano Beach shooting. At the hearing, a federal judge denied his request for bond saying he was “danger to the community” based on his lengthy criminal record. Black faces up to eight years in prison and his sentencing is set for Nov. 13. According to Rap-Up, the “ZEZE” rapper also faces drug, weapons, and sexual assault charges in other states.

An armed man has been shot dead by police after he hijacked a bus and took 37 passengers hostage in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The masked man, believed to have petrol with him was threatening to burn the bus from the inside after he hijacked it on the Rio–Niterói Bridge in the Brazilian city. Local media reports that police surrounded the vehicle and tried to negotiate with the hijacker. Brazilian security forces shot the hijacker dead, bringing the incident to a close. None of the hostages was harmed during the four-hour hijacking, Rio de Janeiro Governor Wilson Witschel told reporters at the scene. He took to Twitter to congratulate the police for an "exemplary performance" but said he regretted the death of the hijacker. Maliha Mohammed, a Kenyan Chef based in Mombasa is now the Guinness World Record holder for cooking for the longest hours. The 36-year-old Chef cooked for 75 straight hours at the Kenya Bay Beach Resort, preparing 400 local and international cuisines. The previous Guinness World Record holder for the category was Rickey Lumpkin, a US-based chef who in 2018 cooked for 68 hours, 30 minutes and 1 second. The mother of two achieved this feat in her third attempt as she cooked for 36 hours non-stop in May, tried again in July but only cooked 200 meals for 54 hours under the supervision of the records' officials. The food she prepared will be distributed to charity homes as part of her initiative to raise awareness and to feed the less fortunate in Mombasa County.

Rotimi Amaechi,  a former Minister of Transportation and minister-designate has been promoted to the highest rank in the Catholic Church under the order of the Knights of St. John.   Amaechi was on Sunday, August 18th conferred with the Exemplification honour of the Knights of St. John from Grand Master, Nigerian Temple Noble and Exalted Knights of the Holy Cross Knight of St. John International.   His spokesman, Israel Ibeleme said Amaechi was conferred with the honour at the Pope John Paul II Catholic Centre in Abuja for his service to the Order and humanity for over 20 years. On Sunday, August 18, the former Arsenal player, 38, confirmed the decision to retire from football following a glittering career that saw the defender win 13 major titles. According to Mail Online, Chelsea is planning to discuss a potential return to the club for a player who is widely recognized as one of the best left-backs in the world.
