Four armed robbers shot dead by police while robbing in Lekki (graphic video)

A gang of armed robbers met their end when they went to rob in an estate in Lekki, not knowing that a senior police officer was in the vicinity. The men were carrying out their operation in the area while a senior police officer was visiting the estate. The officer immediately called for backup and other officers arrived in a short while and neutralized the robbers. The robbery gang involved in the operation was made up of five men. Four of the men were killed while the fifth, a young man under the age of 20, was shot in the leg and he was used as bait to lure out the rest of the gang. He also provided the authorities with information on how the gang members gather information before they begin operation. Below is a video showing police shooting some of the suspected robbers.

The United Nations has warned nations of the world to prepare for global famines of 'biblical proportions' due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic while naming Nigeria amongst a list of top ten countries at risk of an all-out famine. According to the executive director of the UN World Food Programme (WFP), David Beasley, in a matter of months the pandemic will push an additional 130 million people to the brink of starvation and in a worst-case scenario famines will occur "about three dozen countries". Two cats become the first pets in the US to test positive for Coronavirus

Two cats in New York have tested positive for the novel Coronavirus, making them the first pets in the US known to be infected with the disease.  "These are the first pets in the United States to test positive," the US Department of Agriculture announced on Wednesday in a joint statement with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The agencies emphasized that there is no evidence pets play a role in spreading coronavirus in the United States. "There is no justification in taking measures against companion animals that may compromise their welfare," they said. The two cats were tested after they showed respiratory symptoms, according to the agencies, and they join the ranks of a lion and a tiger in New York who were previously confirmed to be infected. Pastor Peter Alatake, the General Overseer of the Holy Ghost Mission Church in Owo, Ondo state, was today April 22 arraigned before an Owo Magistrate court for allegedly raping a 16-year-old epileptic secondary school student. According to reports, the victim was taken to Holy Ghost Mission Church for deliverance but allegedly ended up been raped by the clergyman between April 15 to 20, leaving her with serious injuries in her vagina and anus. A medical test conducted at Medical Centre, Owo confirmed the injuries she sustained and the clergyman was arrested. Alatake was arraigned before the court on Wednesday morning, April 22, on a one-count charge of unlawfully having carnal knowledge of a minor, an offence punishable under section 357 of the criminal laws of Ondo state. He pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him. The Edo State Government has recorded its second COVID19 death. According to the state Commissioner for Health, Patrick Okundia, the 2nd COVID-19 death was a 57-year-old police officer. “We had an unfortunate situation of a 57-year-old police officer, who passed on yesterday (Tuesday). It is not very clear how he got the infection but he developed some illnesses. Initially, there was no evidence of suspicion of coronavirus disease, but when the symptoms started getting worse, he was treated at the police clinic. “About two days before he died, our surveillance team was called to have a look and it was in that process that they took his sample and sent it to the laboratory, while he continued with his drugs.He was consequently placed on self-isolation. However, the result came out positive. The Lagos State Government has presented cheques to the families who lost their loved ones in the Abule-Ado explosion. On the morning of Sunday, March 15, 2020, there was an enormous explosion that led to the loss of lives and properties in Abule-Ado, Satellite Town, Lagos. The damage was extensive and the Lagos State Governor and his Deputy visited the scene of the explosion the following day. During the visit, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced he was launching a 2 Billion Naira relief fund for victims. 29-year-old pregnant Health worker dies of COVID-19 in Ekiti

Ekiti state has recorded its first COVID-19 death. The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, who disclosed this at a press conference this afternoon, said the deceased died on Wednesday, April 22, around 6:58 am at the Intensive Care Unit of Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti. According to Yaya-Kolade, the deceased was a Community Health worker with the Lagos State Government and was pregnant. She reportedly sneaked into Ekiti last week before she fell into prolonged labour leading to the discovery that she had contracted the infectious disease. The Lagos State Government today Wednesday, April 22, arraigned the General Overseer of Resurrection Praise Ministries for Africa, Bishop Samson Benjamin aka Jehovah Sharp Sharp, before an  Igbosere Magistrate court  for violating the presidential lockdown order. A Nigerian gunman has been arrested in the UK after he live-streamed himself on Instagram firing shots from a balcony while rapping to Tupac's 'Hit 'Em Up'. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning April 22, at a flat on Dock Head Road, Chatham. The man identified as Flexing Mike on Instagram, who claims to be the CEO of Truth or Dare records sent panicked shoppers in Kent running for their lives as he fired around 50 shots before armed police rushed to the scene and arrested him.  The man who is in his 30s filmed himself shouting out Tupac lyrics while he pulled the trigger, saying: "I see them, they run, dem dey craze?" A police officer in South Africa has been hailed online, after being spotted in a viral video praying before arresting a pastor who defied a lockdown order issued by the South African government.  The pastor was arrested for holding a church gathering when mass gatherings have been prohibited during the lockdown, which took effect from midnight on Thursday, March 26.  The policeman who first outlined why the pastor has to be arrested, also rebuked him for disobeying South African and global laws and "misleading God's children". He then went on to say a short prayer before saying the police will be arresting the pastor in the name of the "Father, Son and Holy Spirit".
